How this is counted
A part is one lettered sub-question, such as 1(a) or 4(b)(ii). Marks are as printed on the UPSC paper. Civil Services papers carry 400 marks across eight questions, of which a candidate attempts five for 250 marks. Every part has its own page on this site with the question as text; where the free solution answers it, the page also carries the answer in brief, the key points and the full model answer. Question papers belong to UPSC; the solutions are original work.
