Q2(b). Lewis acidity across the first transition series
In going from left to right of the 1st transition series for bivalent ions, the Lewis acidity steadily increases. Justify your answer.
Answer in brief
Increasing effective nuclear charge and generally decreasing ionic size enhance electron-pair attraction, giving a broad rise in Lewis acidity; the trend is not strictly monotonic for every ion or ligand.
