Q7(c). Will silver nitrate dissolve all the copper?
A piece of 1.06 g of copper metal is dropped in 250 mL of 0.20 M AgNO₃ solution. Will all the copper dissolve in this solution? Write the net reaction equation. (Given atomic weight of Cu = 63.54 and atomic weight of Ag = 107.87)
Answer in brief
Yes, sufficient Ag⁺ is available to oxidise all the copper, assuming the reaction can reach completion. Cu + 2Ag⁺ → Cu²⁺ + 2Ag.
