Q13(b). Potassium-ion drift velocity
Question
A dilute KCl solution lies between Pt electrodes 10 cm apart with 6.0 V applied. Find the K⁺ velocity if its molar ionic conductivity is 73.52×10⁻⁴ S m² mol⁻¹.
Answer in brief
The drift speed is 4.57×10⁻⁶ m s⁻¹ towards the negative electrode.
