Nernst equation: EMF, ΔG and K of the Daniell cell at given concentrations
Write the Nernst equation for a cell reaction. Calculate the EMF of the cell $\ce{Zn | Zn^2+ (0.01 M) || Cu^2+ (0.1 M) | Cu}$ at 298 K, given $E^\circ_{\text{cell}} = 1.10$ V. Also calculate $\Delta G$ for the cell reaction and its equilibrium constant. ($F = 96\,485\ \text{C mol}^{-1}$)
Syllabus: Common to CSE Paper I, IFoS Paper I and Geo-Scientist Mains (physical): electrochemical cells, Nernst equation, thermodynamics of cells.
