Q12(c). Trinitrobenzene proton spectra
Question
Distinguish 1,3,5-trinitrobenzene and 1,2,4-trinitrobenzene using their proton NMR spectra. Sketch each low-resolution spectrum.
Answer in brief
The 1,3,5-isomer gives one aromatic signal of area 3H; the 1,2,4-isomer gives three inequivalent aromatic signals of equal 1H area.
